The number of Electoral College members demanding an immediate intelligence briefing on foreign intervention in the presidential election has swelled to 40 electors, most of them joining the effort after a public show of support Monday from the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Thirty additional Democratic electors signed on Tuesday to an open letter to National Intelligence Director James Clapper, arguing that they require the information ahead of Dec. 19, when the Electoral College is set to meet and select the next president.
The list of electors — all but one of them Democrats — is dominated by California, where Christine Pelosi, the daughter of the House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, spearheaded the effort. So far, 11 of the state’s 55-member Electoral College delegation have signed on. Read full story here
