Clinton hammers Trump for criticizing retired general

Hillary Clinton on Saturday responded to Donald Trumpblasting a retired Marine general who criticized him during the Democratic convention earlier this week.

During a rally in Johnstown, Pa., Clinton hammered Trump for disrespecting anyone who criticizes him.

“He loses his cool at the slightest provocation,” she said. “Just yesterday he went after retired Gen. John Allen who commanded our troops in Afghanistan.”

“Gen. Allen is a distinguished Marine,” Clinton continued. “A hero and a patriot. Donald Trump called him a failed general. Why? Because he does not believe Donald Trump should be commander-in-chief.”

On Thursday, Allen, who headed coalition forces in Afghanistan, made the case for electing Clinton at the Democratic convention, blasting Trump for seeking to undermine NATO and for his call to waterboard terror suspects and kill their families.

"Our armed forces will not become an instrument of torture, and they will not be ordered to engage in murder or carry out other illegal activities," he said.

Trump lashed out at Allen in response on Friday, calling him a “failed general.”

“He was the general fighting ISIS. I would say he hasn't done so well, right? Not so well,” Trump said.

On Saturday, Clinton pointed to Trump’s response as evidence that he isn’t fit to lead the country.
