Mr. Oakes Record on Sex Crimes

DA Oakes Literature claims that he has prioritized the prosecution of sexual offenses and crimes against children.  Here are a few examples of his record on sex crimes both as an ADA and DA:
P. v Miller – Defendant charged with Rape in the Second Degree , victim was 13 year old and act occurred in Breitbeck Park.  Mr. Oakes allowed a plea to a misdemeanor and Mr. Miller  received probation.
P. v. Ellis- Defendant charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, D Violent Felony. Mr. Oakes allowed a plea to non-sex crime Forcible Touching and recommended conditional discharge.  Judge imposed probation.
P. v. Coe -Defendant charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree for sexual contact with a 10 year old.  Mr. Oakes allowed a plea to misdemeanor.
P. v.  Burke – Defendant indicted for Rape in the Second Degree  Victim was 13.  Defendant was ON probation at time.  Mr. Oakes allowed plea to misdemeanor.  Sentence was two weekends and probation.
P. v. Arnold – Defendant charged with Rape in the First Degree.  Victim was 11.  Mr. Oakes allowed plea to non-registerable offense of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
P. v. Paro – Defendant charged with Rape in the Second Degree and Criminal Sex Act with victim from age 13 through 17.  Mr. Oakes allowed misdemeanor plea.
P. v. Ritshel – Defendant had a prior felony when charged with Rape in the Second Degree Criminal Sex Act and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Also charged with DWI.  Victim under age of 16.  Mr. Oakes requested matter to be returned to local criminal court for a DWI plea.
P. v. Hagen – Defendant charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. Allowed plea to misdemeanor non-registerable Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
P. v. Lewis – Defendant charged with the A-II Felony of Predatory Sexual Assault on a Child.  Victim was 4 years old.  Allowed to plea to Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a D felony.  Sentenced to time served and probation.
