Biden reportedly ‘more likely than not’ to enter 2016 race
Vice President Joe Biden reportedly has called Democratic donors and supporters to suggest he’s more likely than not to enter the race for the presidential nomination.
The Wall Street Journal said Friday that Biden’s advisers are debating the best time to make the announcement, and discussed doing it soon enough to get him a place in the first Democratic debate, on Oct. 30.
“It’s my sense that this is happening unless they change their minds,’’ a person who spoke to Biden’s aides last weekend told the newspaper.
Biden’s campaign message will likely be that President Obama, who inherited a recession, had a successful presidency, the report said.
Meanwhile, a group of about 50 Democratic donors and supporters has written to Biden urging him to run, Reuters said. The letter calls on Biden to “finish the job” of the Obama administration.
