Gov. Andrew Cuomo visits New York State Fair on opening day

After meeting President Barack Obama in Buffalo on Thursday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo spent early Thursday afternoon strolling around the opening day of the New York State Fair with his three daughters, Mariah, Cara and Michaela.

Cuomo began his visit at the Empire Room, chit-chatting with fair-goers along the way. His daughters followed, smiling politely as passers-by remarked they were "getting prettier every year."
Among the governor's stops was the U.S. Marine Corps tent, where he thanked Marines for their service and joked about his plans to check up on his twin daughters, who start college this week.
"I'm going to make secret visits," he quipped. "They can't get that far. I told them, 'A father gets five secret visits a month.'"

Ann Marie Otis, of Fayetteville, shook hands with the governor and asked if he was going to stay and watch Salt-n-Pepa perform at 2 p.m. He declined, saying he was on his way to get a sausage sandwich instead.
