Oswego, NY -- It took some doing but Oswego County finally has a redistricting plan in place.
The Legislature approved the county's plan Friday by a vote of 14-9. Voting against the plan were legislators Shawn Doyle, R-Pulaski, Margaret Kasler, R-Lacona, Morris Sorbello, R-Granby, Daniel LeClair, R-Hastings, Linda Lockwood, R-Volney, Michael Kunzwiler, D-Oswego, Jacob Mulcahey, D-Oswego, Douglas Malone, D-town of Oswego and Daniel Farfaglia, D-Fulton.
Farfaglia submitted his alternative redistricting plan during the meeting. Legislature Chairman Fred Beardsley said a motion to consider Farfaglia's plan was defeated and a motion to table the vote to another day also was defeated.
The redistricting of the county's 25 legislative districts had to be done due to new population figures from the 2010 census. The redistricting ensures all districts are close to the same in population.
