Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk gained votes as officials here counted over 2,000 paper ballots in her state Senate race against Assemblyman George Amedore, the first in the five-county district to begin opening its paper records.
As of this writing (with a handful of election districts in
Guilderland to go), Tkaczyk gained roughly 60 votes — just more than the
amount by which she trails Amedore. The Republican homebuilder from
Rotterdam started Monday 54 votes ahead of Tkaczyk, a school board
member from Duanesburg. Tkaczyk finished election night 139 votes ahead.
“We’re confident because CeCe’s vote totals are going up, and that
after all of the counties vote totals are tallied, her victory will be
confirmed,” said Tkaczyk spokesman Gary Ginsburg. POST
