Sen. Schumer announced he will distribute free tickets to President Obama’s second inaugural in January

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., announced he will distribute free tickets to President Obama’s second inaugural in January through an online lottery system.

“The statewide lottery will provide hundreds of New Yorkers the opportunity to experience history as they attend the President’s swearing-in ceremony,” Schumer said in a press release.

About 200 or more individuals will receive two tickets each, although the exact number has not yet been determined, said Meredith Kelly, a spokeswoman for Schumer.

Each member of Congress receives an allocation of tickets to distribute as they choose.
The lottery is open to New York residents.

To enter, go to www.schumer.senate.gov/Contact/inauguration.cfm. and fill out an entry form.

Entries will not be accepted via telephone.

Dec. 13 is the deadline to enter.

Names of the winners might be publicized, but not addresses, according to a press release.
