Koch Blames Skelos For Redistricting Failure post
Bobby Cuza was monitoring Ed Koch’s conference call with reporters this morning when he called this a “moment of truth” for the Governor as he faces the prospect of having to veto the legislative lines that LATFOR are expected to put forth in coming days.
Bobby notes out that Koch had some harsh words for Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. Essentially blaming him for the failure to get an independent commission in place to redraw the lines, and arguing that he can’t be trusted.
“Who can trust these guys in the legislature?… The guy who’s most at fault is here is Skelos. He callously, outrageously, and without shame said he wasn’t going to carry out his commitment. He’s not an honorable person in my book. The one thing in politics that I believe is key, is that when you give you your word, you keep it,” Koch said.“He gave his word when he was in the minority, and then when he became the majority, he rejected his prior word. So who’s to believe him when he says that I’m gonna do “x” in the next legislature? I don’t believe him.”
