Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares spoke last night with Keith Olbermann, the former MSNBC host whose show “Countdown” now airs on CurrentTV. Soares confirmed he was declining to prosecute any demonstrator from Occupy Albany arrested for trespassing or other violations, and said this approach would prevent the protest from growing.
As the TU has reported since Friday, top aides to Gov. Andrew Cuomo pressured Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings to enforce an 11 p.m. and clear the city-controlled park of the Occupy Albany encampment, but police (and Soares) refused. Cuomo’s people are now displeased with Jennings.
