President Obama pushed back Friday against raucous health care reform foes by urging Americans to "fight against the fear." "This is not some government takeover," Obama said as he doffed his coat and rolled up his sleeves at a town hall meeting in a Belgrade, Mont., airport hangar crammed with about 1,500 people.
As Obama urged a rejection of "scare tactics," he spotlighted horror stories from the existing system, including people whose insurance coverage abruptly got canceled while they were facing deadly illnesses.
Obama said he was against bureaucratic meddling from Washington but "I also don't want insurance company bureaucratic meddling in your health care either. That's what reform is all about," Obama said to prolonged applause.
